Copper and its alloys have a high resistance to corrosion and a remarkable thermal conductivity.

Therefore this material is widely used for the thermal exchange, for domestic use (water heating, boiler, coils in heat pumps or radiating panels) and for industrial use (desalinator of seawater, industrial heat exchangers).

The advantages of copper are in particular:

- resistance to pressure
- resistance to corrosion increased by industrial treatment of inside pre-passiveness.
- gas-tight
- resistance to ultra violet radiation
- resistance to solar radiation
- law and univocal coefficient of thermal dilation
- resistance to high and low temperatures
- malleability, that makes the bending easier, without spring back effect
- static bacterium: any proliferation of bacterium on pipe's surface
- limited internal roughness, that doesn't permit deposit and charge missing
